Cricket to Resume in South Africa in Late June With the Solidarity Cup
Cricket is set to resume in South Africa, from the last week of June, in a new and experimental format. CSA is trying out a new format for domestic cricket to kick off things post the COVID-19 outbreak.
The tournament is titled Solidarity Cup and is set to being from the 27th of June. The tournament will see the participation of three different teams.
In total 24 players will participate in this tournament will each team having eight players each.
The teams that will be participating are the Eagles team captained by former South African cricketer Ab De Villers, the Kingfishers team captained by Kagiso Rabada, and the Kites team captained by South African skipper Quinton de Kock.

The tournament will act as a testing ground for the resumption of cricket in South Africa.
The new format will see all three teams compete in the same match.
Each team will have a chance to bat for two overs, however, these 12 overs are split into two six over periods, which each team only batting six overs at a time, before the other team comes into bat.
Speaking on the matter, Graeme Smith, the director of CSA commented that “the new format is an exciting prospect and that it will bring back interest in the game”.

The game will be broadcast on SuperSport 2 – the first live sport in South Africa since lockdown started.
