Graeme Smith CSA Could Likely Back Ganguly as ICC President

Former South African cricketer, and current director of Cricket South Africa, has commented that “Sourav Ganguly be an excellent candidate for the role of the ICC president”. Smith commented that “appointing someone like Ganguly as the head of the ICC, would be good for the game, and that it would be an interesting time for cricket if Ganguly is appointed”.

Smith further stated that “Ganguly was the epitome of leadership and credibility and that he can take the game, forward in these testing times”. Smith feels that someone with a modern perception of the game, should be appointed as the head of the ICC, and he feels that Ganguly meets the criteria. Other than Smith, Dr. Jacques Fau, the CEO of CSA also echoed similar sentiments regarding the cricketer.

Speaking on the matter, he commented that the “CSA and the BCCI have worked closely on many occasions and that CSA’s engagement with Ganguly has always been positive”. He commented that “the management is willing to back an Indian candidate for the post of ICC president however they need to wait and see who the remaining candidates are, before making a final call”.
