BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal has commented that “the BCCI will stick with VIVO, as its official partner till their agreement period”.

The statement comes just days after a struggle between Indian and Chinese troops took place at the border, leaving 20 Indian soldiers dead.

As a result, there has been a rising sentiment in the country, relating to the boycott of products that are made in China.

Vivo is a Chinese company is involved in the mobile handset market in India.

If the Indian people stop buying Chinese products, this in-turn will hurt Vivo in terms of revenue.

Speaking on the matter Dhumal commented that “the partnership for the IPL is beneficial for the Indian economy as 42% of the sponsorship money that the BCCI gets from Vivo, goes towards paying the government tax”.

In such an event, breaking the partnership with Vivo would cause financial loss to the government.

However, the BCCI is open to terminating its partnership with Vivo after the period of the current agreement with the company ends.

Speaking on the matter, Dhumal commented that “the board will make a decision that is in the best interest of the country”.
