The Hundred pushed back to 2021 by the ECB
The England and Wales Cricket Board is the governing body of cricket in England and Wales. It is a non-profit organization, which enables it to concentrate on maximizing its funding of the sport rather than on making a return for investors. The ECB’s head offices are at Lord’s Cricket Ground in north-west London.
The English cricket board has announced that they will be postponing the start of the hundred to next year, because of the stoppage of play, brought about by the coronavirus outbreak. The 100 ball format tournament, was set to make its debut this year, however, will the viral outbreak it has not to be possible so far. Earlier indications had also predicted that the Hundred might be pushed back to next year. The Hundred pushed back to 2021 by the ECB. The ECB had earlier announced that no professional cricket would be held in England till the first of July, even after this deadline, all games would be played behind closed doors. Additionally, the ECB had made it clear, that they would be prioritizing International encounters and the Vitality T20 blast to reduce their loss in revenue brought about by the viral outbreak. Even if the Hundred was allowed to be held this year, it would have been a shortened tournament with several restrictions in play. Firstly this is a new format with not much fan appeal at present, secondly several of the international players, who were set to participate in the tournament, might not be able to make it to the country now, due to travel restrictions.
