T20 World Cup Should Not Be Postponed Over The Open of IPL 2020: BCCI jewel
IPL 2020 has been suspended due to COVID-19 as BCCI done this earlier but there is a presumption that it might be played in October-November. Now, BCCI is loitering for the postponement ofT20 world cup as it is possibly scheduled in October. Arun Dhumal stated that the board should look after IPL if there is any slot available.
13th edition of the cash-rich league was set to begin from 29 March but due to coronavirus pandemic, it got suspended yo mid-April, and afterwards it extended to 1 May after government broadened the extension yo 1 May, then held left with no option.
“Why should the BCCI suggest postponing the Twenty20 World Cup? We’ll discuss it in the meeting and whatever is appropriate, (the ICC) will take a call,” Arun Dhumal told.
“It all depends on what the Australian government says on this – whether they’d allow so may team to come and play the tournament. Will it make sense to play games without spectators? Will it make sense for CA to stage such a tournament like that? It’s their call,” he added.
