Steve Waugh Plays Down Warne’s Comments of Him Being Selfish

Former Australian cricketer Steve Waugh has played down Shane Warne’s comments about Waugh being a selfish cricketer. The altercation between the two former legends has been going on for some time now, and for the most part has been one-sided. Shane Warner on several instances had remarked that Waugh was the most selfish cricketer that he had played with.

Recently Warne retweeted a post that contained stats showing that Waugh was the cricketer, who was involved in the most number of run-outs (104) in Test cricket, out of these 73 times the person run out was his partner. Warner took this example to further justify his claims. Responding to Warne’s comments Waugh commented that “there was no feud between him and Warne”.

Earlier Warne had also commented that, “he had lost some respect for his former skipper after he was dropped from the team during the team’s 1999 Test series against the West Indies”. Warner was dropped from the final Test of the series, with Australia trailing 1-2. Speaking on the matter, Warne commented that “Waugh should have backed him for the final game, and allowed him to play”.
