Somerset Cancel The Contract with New Zealand Cricketer Corey Anderson

County cricket club Somerset, have canceled their contract with New Zealand cricketer Corey Anderson, for the upcoming season of the T20 Blast.

It was reported that both sides had a mutual understanding regarding the matter and that there was no bad blood between the two. Anderson had signed up to play 14 games this season for the team.

Speaking on the matter, Andy Hurry, the director of cricket for Somerset commented that “the last few months have been challenging for the board, financially as no cricket has been played due to the COVID-19 lockdown”.

Hurry thanked Anderson and his representatives for understanding the situation and coming to a mutual agreement with the board. He commented that “it was a hard decision for the board, to let go of Anderson, however, he feels that their new agreement provides both the board and Anderson with a bit more clarity in these testing times”.

Anderson has represented New Zealand in 13 Tests, 49 ODI’s and 31 T20 internationals.

Currently, domestic cricket in England is set to resume from the 1st of August, however, this date might be pushed back again if the situation with COVID worsens.
