PCB Cancels Training Camp For Players Ahead of England Tour
The Pakistan cricket board has announced that “they will not be conducting any training camp for its players, ahead of the team’s tour of England, over fears of COVID-19 infection”.
The board had earlier decided that 25 players would participate in a training camp that was set to be held at the high-performance center in Lahore, later this month.
It is also reported that the PCB is in talks with the ECB regarding pushing back the tour to ensure that their players have enough time to practice before the series begins.
With the number of positive COVID-19 cases increasing in Pakistan, it was natural that the PCB decided to not conduct the tournament.
It remains to be seen if this news has any substantial bearing on the tour. The PCB also has not shared any details regarding the testing of players and support staff before the tour.
Earlier this month the PCB had announced that they would be increasing the medical testing of players from two tests per year to four tests, to ensure that the players remain healthy.
Pakistan’s tour of England consists of three Tests and three T20 internationals.
