Neena Gupta On Why She Considers Herself ‘Little’ Successful
Neena Gupta became a sensation after her stint in Badhaai Ho! While the actress is known to be someone who breaks stereotypes, she is also not the one to mince words.
Neena Gupta has established herself as one of the best character actors in the industry. However, the veteran is quick to call herself only a ‘little’ famous. When she was further prodded further as to why does she not acknowledge herself for the star that she is, the veteran says that despite being a part of the industry for almost 30 years she attained fame only recently.
Speaking to India.com, Neena Gupta said, “I am not Amitabh Bachchan. People noticed me after Badhaai Ho. I think right now, I am known as a good character actor. I have not got that kind of fame. There are very few roles for women. I can’t be the heroine. Men can still do main-leads. Women can’t.”
But being a woman who has seen so much in life, Neena Gupta says every woman should have her won money. Opening up about her thoughts on the financial independence of women, the Panga actress says, “Your plan B and your dependency should be on your money. The money will help you with any problem. Every woman should have her own money. That’s the plan B (for a woman) before anything else. I have always had ambitions. I never felt like getting married, settling at home and looking after kids and family. I always wanted to work and make something of myself. My parents always told me to be passionate.”
The veteran actress celebrated her 61st birthday and several industry folks sent their wishes for Neena Gupta including Masaba Gupta’s rumoured beau Satyadeep Mishra.
