KKR Owners Confident That IPL would be Held This Year – Comments by Pat Cummins
Australian cricketer, Pat Cummins has commented that “the IPL would be the ideal tournament to kick start cricket after the stoppage in play brought about by the lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak”. Cummins commented that “the IPL could also give players some much-needed game time before the start of the T20 World Cup later in the year”.
Pat Cummins who was purchased by the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise for a massive sum of INR 15.5 cr, was the most expensive purchase at this year’s auction. Cummins commented that the “he wanted to play the IPL and that he was in constant contact with the owners of the KKR franchise”. He commented that “the franchise management was confident that the tournament will take place sometime during this year”.
Pat Cummins also stated that “with the World Cup, set to be held sometime later this year, the IPL would provide all players involved with some quality game time before the start of the World Cup”. However the ICC has not made a final decision regarding the dates of the T20 World Cup, many have speculated that the T20 World Cup could be pushed back to a later date to accommodate the IPL this year.
