ECB in Talks With BCCI and CSA Regarding Women’s Tri-series
The English cricket board is currently in talks with the BCCI regarding hosting a limited-overs tri-series for the Women’s team.
The Indian team was set to tour England this summer, however, the tour ended up being pushed back due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The ECB is currently also in talks with the South African cricket board, to get them on board for the series. If the series ends up taking place, then it would be the first major event for Women’s cricket since the final of the Women’s World Cup, which was the last major cricket tournament to be played, before the lockdown.
The ECB is expecting some form of Women’s cricket to take place before the end of this year, and this tri-series could fit that description.
Speaking on the matter, Tom Harrison the chief executive of the ECB commented that “the final say on the fate of the tournament rests with India and that since the number of positive COVID-19 cases are increasing in India.
The BCCI would need some time to assess the situation before making a decision on the matter”. So far around 3,00,000 cases of COVID-19 have been detected in England.
