Cricket Australia Sets start Date for Domestic Cricket in the country To June 6th

Competitive Cricket is set to resume in Australia from the first week of June, according to reports. Cricket in Australia, like the rest of the world, has been brought to a stand-still following, the Coronavirus outbreak.

It has been a couple of months since any professional cricket has been played in Australia. This is set to change, from next month, when cricket resumes with some changes in rules of the game. The most significant of the changes in the ban on the use of sweat or saliva to shine the ball. This ban in important in the context of the recent viral pandemic and will serve to protect the players against the transmission of the virus.

The season will also see the involvement of the umpires in legalized ball shining using wax applicators, this could set the precedent for other, boards, who may follow the same rules. Before the start of the season, domestic teams, within the country, will need to complete with a Safety plan assessment for COVID-19, before being approved to participate in the season.

Most of the teams are still in the process of coming up with these plans. The domestic season that starts from the sixth of June, will kick off with a domestic T20 tournament, the domestic season could act as a testing ground for cricket Australia before they restart international cricket in the country.
