BCCI Looking For Ways To Conduct IPL – Before End of The year
The BCCI is reportedly looking into various options in a bid to ensure that the IPL ends up taking place this year itself.
So far the BCCI has not commented on a potential window for when the tournament could be expected to be held.
However, it is heavily speculated that if the T20 World Cup, ends up being shifted to another date then the IPL could be held during its time frame.
The BCCI has currently notified state boards, that the IPL, would most probably take place behind closed doors.
The BCCI has asked state boards to remain prepared in the event the IPL goes ahead sometime this year.
It also reported that the BCCI is not interested in moving the IPL, to a venue outside of India.
Earlier the cricket boards of UAE and Sri Lanka had offered to host the IPL.
On the side of the different IPL franchises, the management of different teams are waiting until the COVID-19 situation is brought under control, however, it is reported that the Mumbai Indians team might re-open training facilities for cricketers later this month.
If the BCCI is not able to conduct the IPL, before the end of the year, then they stand to lose around INR 3,500 Cr.
