Allan Border Not in favor of Pushing Back T20 World Cup for the IPL
Former Australian skipper Allan Border has commented that “the schedule for the T20 World Cup should not be compromised for allowing the IPL, to take place”, he feels that doing so would be the wrong decision. He commented that “the IPL was just a cash grab and that World Cup should always take precedence over domestic competitions such as the IPL”.
Speaking on the matter, Allan Border commented that “if the World Cup, does end up being pushed back for the IPL, then countries should not send their players to participate in the IPL”. Border acknowledged that since the BCCI, was the largest cricket board in the world, they should have a say regarding matters relating to scheduling of games, however, he feels that allowing one nation to dictate terms would be wrong.
When asked about, ICC’s decision to ban the use of saliva on the cricket ball, Border commented that “bowlers must be given some option to shine the ball, otherwise batting would become too easy, and the bowlers would not be able to pick up any wickets”. Last week an independent panel led by former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble had recommended to the ICC that they should ban the use of saliva on the ball, in light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak.
