Shane Warne Comments Quality of Spinners in Australia is Rapidly Decreasing
Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne has commented that “the quality of spin bowlers in Australia, is going down fast, and that the board should force domestic teams to play at least one spinner each game so that they get more game time”.
According to Shane Warne, Nathan Lyon is the only world-class spinner in the team at present, he feels that the board should be looking for more players as a backup, in case Lyon gets injured.
Speaking on the matter, Shane Warne commented that “drop-in wickets are one of the main reasons that teams are unwilling to play spinners in their team”. He feels that “drop-in pitches take away the advantage of the spinners and the conditions that are unique to a particular ground”. Almost all the major cricket grounds in Australia currently have drop-in pitches.
Shane Warne commented that “because of this reason many domestic sides prefer to exclude sinners from their side, he feels that this will damage cricket in the country in the long run”. Warne also commented that “spinners like Zampa, Boyce, and Agar, who are expected to be named in the squad for the team’s tour of India in April next year should get more games in first-class cricket so that they can prepare well”.
