PCB Seeking Permission From Government To Start Training Camp in Lahore
The Pakistan cricket board is reportedly seeking permission from the Pakistani government, regarding the start of training sessions for its players, in Lahore before the team’s scheduled tour of England in the coming months.
With the number of COVID-19 cases on the rise in Pakistan it remains to be seen if the government will allow the board, to go ahead with their plans.
Another major reason the training camp, is raising concerns is the fact that the high-performance training center in Lahore, which was designated as the spot for training, can only accommodate 15-20 players at one time.
It is known that at least 25 players will be named for the tour of England, this means that there would not be enough room for the players as well as the support staff.
Several players who represent Pakistan have also objected against holding a longer training camp, in the midst of the pandemic, some have even suggested reducing the length of the training camp to under a week.
The PCB had earlier stated that players would not be forced to be a part of the team and that if someone is feeling uncomfortable touring England, then they will not be included in the team.
