PCB in Discussions with Franchise Owners Regarding Conducting Remaining PSL Games

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board is reportedly having second thoughts, about conducting the remaining four games of this year’s PSL. Mainly, due to financial limitations that come with setting up such an endeavor.

The PSL, which takes place in the months of February and March, was abruptly halted, due to the COVID-19 situation, and since then the remaining games have been put on hold.

The PCB, on Thursday, conducted an online video session with the franchise, owners, to ask their opinion regarding conducting the remaining games. Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Peshawar franchises were the four teams that made it, into the playoffs this season.

Lahore and Karachi, who reached the playoffs for the first time in the tournament, were reportedly in favor of conducting the games.

The PCB had earlier notified these teams that conducting the remaining four games would cost approximately, 4.5 to 5 crore Pakistani rupees, most of the expenses would come in the form of broadcasting of matches.

If the four games are conducted, the PCB is expecting a return of just fifty to eighty lakh rupees only. Around 30 games had been completed in this year’s PSL, before the lockdown.
