New Zealand Really going to Reschedule its Domestic Season To Accommodate The IPL!

New Zealand cricketer, Ish Sodhi, has commented that the “New Zealand cricket board, will need to reschedule its domestic season if the IPL ends up taking place in the October-November window”. The IPL, which does not have a start date at present, is expected to be scheduled for the last few months of 2019, however, scheduling conflicts and the timing of the T20 World Cup, would work against this move.

The domestic season, of cricket in New Zealand, starts in October and ends in April, this would mean that, if the IPL ends up taking place in the October – November time frame, then many of the players and staff, who are part of the IPL, will not be able to participate in in the tournament. Sodhi feels that the board should push back the start of the season after the IPL has ended.

Some of the New Zealand players who are participating in the IPL, include Kane Williamson, Mitchell Santner, Mitchell McClenaghan, Jimmy Neesham, and Trent Boult. Besides these players former cricketer like Ish Sohi, Brendon McCullum, and Stephen Fleming are also part of the support staff for different teams. If the board does not reschedule its domestic season, then these players might lose big, in terms of revenue, if the IPL does end up taking place.
