Australia Batting Coach Graeme Hick Let Go As Part Of The Cost-Cutting Strategy From CA
Australia: Australia’s head coach, Justin Langer has confirmed that Cricket Australia has officially terminated the services of batting coach Graeme Hicks.
Langer commented that “Hicks was let go because of the financial constraint being faced by the board, and that it has nothing to do with his performance”.
Cricket Australia under the new leadership of Nick Hockley had announced plans earlier this week to maintain the financial stability of the board. These changes also involved job cuts.
Speaking about Hicks, Langer commented that “he was a terrific human being and that his work ethic and knowledge of the game of cricket was unbelievable”.
Langer commented that “the remaining support staff would need to adapt by being creative to overcome the void left by the departure of the teams batting coach”.

Justin Langer also commented that “several job cuts had been made in the core staff, these also include members of the high-performance training staff”.
Langer however believes that “the scale of the job cuts is not substantial and these changes are not expected to affect the efficiency of the support staff once the sport resumes”.

It remains to be seen if the board decided to appoint a batting coach before the start of the T20 World Cup, later this year.
