LONDON: Former English cricketer, Vikram Solanki has been appointed as the head coach of the County Cricket Team Surrey.
Solanki would be replacing Michael Di Venuto, who was serving as the head coach for the side for the past four years. Since 2018 Solanki has been working as an assistant coach under Venuto.
Solanki first joined the Surrey outfit way back in 2013, since his retirement in 2016, he has been part of the support staff for the team.
Speaking on the matter, Alec Stewart the director of Surry CCC commented that “the management had a tough time making the decision to let Venuto go and that they were glad that someone like Solanki was available to take over the resign”.
He feels that “Solanki would be the right fit for the team, as he has spent considerable time with the team and knows how it operates”.
Solanki himself took the opportunity to highlight the accomplishments of departing coach Venuto commenting that “his achievements with the team were exceptional”.
