London: The ECB, has announced that recreational cricket, would be resuming in the country, from next week, after they received clearance, from the UK government, to restart cricket in the country.
This news will come as a huge relief to different cricket clubs, across the country, that have been shut down, ever since the start of the COVID pandemic.
Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the UK, who was against the start of recreational cricket in the country, agreed to loosen the restrictions, that were placed around the country regarding cricket this week.
He commented that “the government was working guidelines that are needed to be followed, while playing cricket, to ensure the safety of everyone involved”.
Speaking on the matter, Tom Harris, the ECB chief commented that “recreational cricket, was important for different communities across the country, and that it plays a vital role in keeping the people healthy”.
He also commented that “the ECB is having discussions with Oliver Dowden, who is the sports minister of England, regarding the restrictions that arein place for recreational cricket”.
