Taufeeq Umar Former Pakistani cricketer has Contracts COVID-19

Former Pakistani cricketer, Taufeeq Umar has tested positive for Coronavirus. With this new development, the total number of international cricketers, current or past to have contracted the virus, has risen to four. The other players who have been affected by the COVID include Zafar Sarfaraz (Pakistan), Majid Haq (Scotland), and Solo Nqweni (South Africa).

Speaking to the media, Taufeeq commented that “he came down with a fever during the night time, and that he immediately got himself tested for the virus”. He commented that “the results of the tests returned positive, and that he is currently in isolation at home”. He commented that “his symptoms are not severe at the moment and also requested the prayers of his supporters so that he can recover quickly”.

Taufeeq was a mainstay in the Pakistan test side batting lineup from 2001 to 2006. In total he has played 44 Tests for his country. However, he lost his spot in the side after this time, and from 2006-2010 he did not play much international cricket. He played his last international game way back in 2014. Taufeeq also played ODI cricket for some time, but was not as successful, as he was in TEST cricket.
