English cricketer Stuart Broad, has expressed his displeasure, towards the English Cricket Board, and the selectors, for not picking him for the first Test against West Indies, that is currently ongoing.
The English selectors, opted to field the trio of James Anderson, Mark Wood and Jofra Archer for the first Test, with Dominic Bess, being the only spinner in the team.
Speaking on the matter, Broad commented that “he been frustrated and angry for the last couple of days”. Broad, commented that “he feels that he has been performing well for the team over the past few series, and that he deserved a spot in the playing XI”. Broad also stated that he had spoken to Ed Smith, the national selector for the team. Broad commented that “Smith had ensured him of his future in the side, and those other bowlers were picked in the team, only based on the conditions of the pitch”.
Broad also clarified that “he was not bitter toward the bowlers who were picked and that these bowlers deserved to be in the playing XI”. Broad is currently 15 wickets away from becoming the second English cricketer to pick up 500 wickets.
