Cricket South Africa has reportedly delayed the start of cricket in the country.
Earlier this well, CSA had announced that they would be kicking off things in the’ country from July 27th, through a charity game played in the form of the Solidarity Cup.
The tournament would have seen the participation of three teams in a new format. The date for this game has now been pushed back.
CSA, so far, has not revealed the new dates for the tournament Solidarity Cup 2020.
The decision to push back the event was taken after the organizing committee for the tournament had a meeting with event partners.
Following the meeting, it was decided that more preparation was needed before the game could be conducted and the July 27th date would not allow for this.
Speaking on the matter, Jacques Faul the chief executive for CSA commented that “the government approval would also be needed before any sport can start in the country”.
He also commented that “CSA has sent over the return to play protocols that they had formulated to the government and that these protocols need to be agreed before any action can take place”.
