New Zealand batting coach, Peter Fulton to step down from his role

Aukland: New Zealand’s batting coach, Peter Fulton, has decided to step down from his post, to take up the coaching role for the domestic team Canterbury, in New Zealand.

Fulton was named as the batting coach for the New Zealand side after Craig McMillan, left the spot, last year. Since then Fulton has been a part of the New Zealand set-up, across several national and international tours.

Speaking on the matter, Fulton, commented that “the job of head coach for the Canterbury side,
was too good for him to pass up, as he felt that this was a necessity for his development as a coach”.

He also commented that “since his family was settled in Canterbury, he would get to spend some more time with them”.

Fulton also commented that “since he has played for Canterbury, in the past, the role of coach would suit him well”. Fulton was part of the New Zealand support staff when the team travelled to Australia and Sri Lanka. He was also part of the team, during the home series against India and England.

He is expected to take charge as the head coach of the Canterbury, side from the 1st of August. Fulton has represented New Zealand in 23 Tests, 49 ODI’s and 12 T20 games, across his career.
