Justin Langer comments that Covid-19 break could be used to revitalize the first-class scene in Australia
Australian head coach Justin Langer has commented that “the beak in cricket brought about by the COVID-19 outbreak, offers the perfect opportunity for the Australian cricket board, to revamp the setup of the first-class cricket and club cricket that takes place in the country”. Langer commented that “with a combined effort the first-class scene in the country can be brought back to glory”. Australia who were scheduled to tour Bangladesh for a tour at this point of time, have been forced to stay at home in self-isolation due to the Covid-19 outbreak, additionally, the six-month travel ban imposed by the Australian government is another hindering factor, which will ensure that the Australian team remains out of action for at least a few more months. Langer feels that “the management can take this opportunity to fix and improve upon the existing problems that are plaguing the first-class scene in the country”. He commented that “the board should provide more focus on club cricket and incentivize players for participating in the first-class scene”. Currently, the domestic T20 tournament and the first-class scene of Australia are in a state of the constant clash.
