The ICC has announced the postponement of several of the qualifying events for some of its upcoming events, due to the stoppage in the sport, that has been brought about by the Coronavirus outbreak.
The events that have been affected include the qualifiers for the 2021 Women’s world cup and the Under-19 men’s World Cup, which is set to be held in July.
The Women’s World Cup qualifiers that were set to take place in the first few weeks of July would have seen the participation of 10 teams, including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Ireland, and the Netherlands, among others.
The ICC, at present, has not revealed the new dates for these qualifying events. The final dates for these events would be decided only after the outbreak has subsided. The ICC is expected to consult with the boards of all the participating teams, before making a decision on the new dates, in order to avoid scheduling conflicts.
The ICC was forced to push back these events as they were scheduled to be held in the coming months. If the situation with the outbreak does not improve then other events that are scheduled for later in the year, might also end up being pushed back.
