The English cricket board has announced that Colin Graves the chairman of the board will be stepping down from his position to make way for the Ian Watmore, who was chosen to succeed him. Greaves has been the chairman of the ECB since 2015 and had a contract that was set to expire in 2021, however, he decided to step down a year early because the hundred was pushed back to next year. Speaking on the matter, Ian Watmore commented that, “since the ECB decided to push back the start of the hundred to next year, he had to re-evaluate the last year of his chairmanship, this led to him requesting the ECB to terminate his role as chairman in the board one year earlier”.He commented that “this the right time for his successor Ian Watmore to take over the reins”. Greaves commented that “Watmore was the perfect choice for the role of chairman of the board as he has significant experience in the field of sports administration and that his expertise could be valuable to the board in a time of crisis”. The appointment of Whatmore is set to be ratified during the annual general meeting for the ECB which has been currently pushed back, because of the viral outbreak.
