Several Bangladeshi cricketers, who represent the side at the international level, have been denied permission to start their training at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium.
Players including Mushfiqur Rahim were waiting for the lockdown to be lifted before they can start training again, however, the Bangladesh cricket board decided to deny player requests on account of safety.
Speaking on the matter, Nizamuddin Chowdhury the Cheif executive of the BCB commented that “the main reason that the board denied player request was that, they were not finished with disinfecting different facilities at the stadium”.
He commented that “no players would be allowed to train in the stadium until the process has completed and currently it is unknown how long the process would take”.
Currently, Bangladesh is divided into three zones, based on the effect that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the population.
These zones are red, yellow, and green. The red and yellow zones with a high number of positive COVID cases will remain on lockdown until the number of cases reduces, while in the green zone, restrictions have been lifted.
This division of regions could also play a role in the decision-making process of the BCB when cricket resumes.
