Afghanistan is set to tour Australia, for a one-off day-night Test series, in November. This game would be held a couple of weeks before the start of India’s tour of Australia.
This will be Afghanistan’s first-ever day-night Test match. The decision was taken after weeks of deliberation between the cricket boards of Afghanistan and Australia. Speaking on the matter, Lutfullah Stanikzai the chief executive of Afghanistan cricket board, commented that “he was confident that the tour would go ahead as planned, unless, there is some interference due to COVID-19 outbreak”.
He commented that “Australia was a strong side in World Cricket, and that this game would provide some good experience for the team”. Rashid Khan a member of the Test side for the Afghan team, commented that “facing off against Australia in a Test match, would be a big boost for the team and that the game would help the Afghanistan team, prepare for their Test series against Australia next year, at home”. The logistics of the tour is still being worked out by the boards, and more information regarding the matter will be released soon.
